Fro-yo is a go in the South West!

FROZEN yoghurt lovers in the South West can rejoice with the regions first YBar store to be opened at Eaton Fair Shopping Centre at the end of the month.

Store owner Avril Bannink was inspired to open her own small business after a quick family outing for a sweet treat resulted in disappointment.

“I have seen other frozen yoghurt stores and my family loves them,” Mrs Bannink said.

“One day, my husband, daughter and I wanted to go out and buy an ice cream, but it was not long before the family was back in the car and all a bit disappointed with our choices.

“Imagine how nice it would be to go out and enjoy a nice treat as a family, where you can take your time, have a range of products to choose from and just get to enjoy the whole experience.”

YBar will offer a variety of freshly made frozen yoghurt which will be regularly rotated to ensure customers always have something new to try with each visit.

The yoghurts will feature fruit flavours such as mango, strawberry and banana, as well as more exotic choices such as pomegranate and kiwi.

Non-fruit choices such as Chocolate, caramel, coffee and bubblegum will also tempt the taste-buds.

“We will not be using powdered milk mixes and artificially flavoured syrups, we will have real milk, real fruit and fresh yoghurt,” Mrs Bannink said.

Customers can then customise their choice with a range of fresh fruit toppings, lollies, chocolates, biscuits, cereals, sauces and “boba” or “popping pearls”.

Those with dietary requirements will also be considered in the creation of the menu.

“We are even hoping to stock a lactose-free and sugar-free product line within the first few weeks of opening,” she said.

“We are currently also sourcing a range of delicious diabetic and gluten free lollies, so the whole family will be able to enjoy the outing, no matter their dietary requirements.”

With extensive experience in the hospitality industry, Mrs Bannink had wanted to open her own business for some time.

“The frozen yoghurt scene has exploded in Perth, and I’m actually quite surprised that nobody has tapped into the market down here,” she said.

“My goal is to open a place where families and friends can spend time together while also been able to satisfy their sweet tooth.
